What is Stepping Forward: Explore?
Stepping Forward: Explore is a new and exciting online programme that introduces the performing arts to young people who may be interested in the Performing Arts and want to develop their communication and creative skills while building their confidence and self-esteem!
Young people do not need any prior knowledge in Performing Arts, as it is an ‘introduction to’ but just require an interest to get started and to guide themselves through each stage.

Stepping Forward: Explore is for young people aged 13+ and can be purchased by individuals, schools, education providers and youth organisations

How can I access the programme?
If you are a young person you can purchase individual access via our sign up page.
If you are a school, education provider or youth organisation you can purchase a group order. Discount is offered in relation to group size. We also offer an unlimited whole school package. Get in touch to find out more.

How is the programme structured?
Stepping Forward: Explore is an online course that you can work through at your own pace. The programme is built up of six stages, each stage containing videos with industry professionals, quiz style questions, space for reflection and the opportunity to practice your own skills in the comfort of your own space.
The later stages of the programme provide the opportunity for you to look forward and plan for future training and career paths, and explore the possibilities of engaging in Performing Arts in your local area.

What are the benefits of engaging with Stepping Forward: Explore?
Stepping Forward will open the door to many experiences and opportunities across the Performing Arts. The programme can support you to develop communication and creative skills while building your confidence and self-esteem. Engaging with each stage can support in building transferable skills and knowledge which can support with future careers (not just within the performing arts)!

How can I engage with performing arts in my local area?
We are glad you are interested in continuing to engage with Performing Arts in your local area. We don't currently have a list of organisations that we can signpost you to (but are hoping to build this up). We would recommend talking to a key adult who can support you to find opportunities in your area.

How much does Stepping Forward: Explore programme cost?
An individual purchase costs £30, then we offer discount for group bookings.
Small Group = 15% off
Medium Group = 33% off
Large Group = 50% off

How long does it take to complete Stepping Forward: Explore?
Stepping Forward recognises that each individual will have their own unique starting point in the performing arts. It is structured to allow you to progress at your own pace.
We say that each stage of the programme is around one hour's worth of content, which includes the videos, quizzes and downloadable resources. So to complete the whole programme it would take around six hours, but this can vary from person to person!

Do I need experience in acting, singing or dance to take part?
No, not at all. Stepping Forward: Explore is for beginners and curious learners. You don’t need confidence or experience to start. The series is about giving things a go, learning new skills and discovering what you enjoy. -
Will I have to perform in front of other people?
No. You can take part at your own pace and choose how much you share. There’s no pressure to perform or be judged. Trying, reflecting and learning are what matter most. -
What will I get out of it?
You’ll build confidence, creativity and real-life skills like communication, teamwork and problem-solving. Many students also discover new interests or strengths they didn’t realise they had. You will also get a certificate of your achievements that you can keep.

How does the series fit into the school day?
Stepping Forward: Explore is flexible and can be used in arts, PSHE, careers or enrichment sessions. Episodes are short and supported by a downloadable PDF of lesson ideas, making it easy to adapt for different timetables and groups. -
Do we need specialist staff or facilities?
No. The series is designed to be accessible to all schools. No specialist equipment or arts expertise is required, and activities can be adapted to suit your setting and students. -
How does this support student development?
